As Shohei Ohtani sets a two-way record in Los Angeles that even Major never rehearsed, Japan looks at "an outward-stretching dream"; meanwhile in Nagatachō another manga-born figure approaches the summit of power. The essay reads Takaichi through the "method" of Seijika Mae and the "anxiety" of Shima Kōsaku as Japan's "absolute realism".
